The resort is small and intimate with all huts located directly over the water....which is always calm, warm and inviting. This resort literally has no land. Francine has built a series of walkways, huts and central living and dining area all above the water in between the mangroves. There are quiet areas for reading, yoga and relaxing. Or you can spend some time in one of the many hammocks. Lobsters are literally plucked from the water and served. The food is incredible - fresh and local. We saw many locals pulling up in their dug out canoes - delivering fresh fish, vegetables for our meals. Meals are communal so you have the opportunity to meet other guests. Or you can opt for a romantic dinner for two on one of the piers - organised by the staff. Not chill enough for you? How about a massage over the water. If you feel more energetic the staff can organise most tours to pick you up at the resort. Once on Urraca though - you don't want to leave...even for a few hours. Once on Urraca though - you don't want to leave...even for a few hours. You can swim, sleep, kayak, read or if you are like me - spend most of your time with the monkeys.

You can see Capuchins, Tamarins and Squirrel monkeys. All rescued and all cared for and loved. Urraca even has their own monkey island - next to the tiny resort island - where the monkeys can roam free in the mangrove trees. The monkeys access it via the 'monkey bridge'. They can then return home for delicious snacks and rest. I fell in love with Marco - the tiny young Tamarin, but all the monkeys had their own distinct personalities. The love and dedication from all the staff to all the monkeys is inspiring.

And there is nothing quite like having delicious coffee and breakfast with monkeys playing all around you. Do not pass up an opportunity to see these beautiful creatures and stay with the incredible Francine, whose vision and determination made this haven a reality. More
