Francine is the most gracious host, the... read more island is something out of this world, the food was fantastic, and the monkeys were out of this world. Truly an experience of a lifetime.

We did not spend a night at the hotel, though it's now near the top of our list.

The resort is small and intimate with all huts located directly over the water....which is always calm, warm and inviting. This resort literally has no land. Francine has built a series of walkways, huts and central living and dining area all above the water in between the mangroves. There are quiet areas for reading, yoga and relaxing. Or you can spend some time in one of the many hammocks. Lobsters are literally plucked from the water and served. The food is incredible - fresh and local. We saw many locals pulling up in their dug out canoes - delivering fresh fish, vegetables for our meals. Meals are communal so you have the opportunity to meet other guests. Or you can opt for a romantic dinner for two on one of the piers - organised by the staff. Not chill enough for you? How about a massage over the water. If you feel more energetic the staff can organise most tours to pick you up at the resort. Once on Urraca though - you don't want to leave...even for a few hours. Once on Urraca though - you don't want to leave...even for a few hours. You can swim, sleep, kayak, read or if you are like me - spend most of your time with the monkeys.

You can see Capuchins, Tamarins and Squirrel monkeys. All rescued and all cared for and loved. Urraca even has their own monkey island - next to the tiny resort island - where the monkeys can roam free in the mangrove trees. The monkeys access it via the 'monkey bridge'. They can then return home for delicious snacks and rest. I fell in love with Marco - the tiny young Tamarin, but all the monkeys had their own distinct personalities. The love and dedication from all the staff to all the monkeys is inspiring.

And there is nothing quite like having delicious coffee and breakfast with monkeys playing all around you. Do not pass up an opportunity to see these beautiful creatures and stay with the incredible Francine, whose vision and determination made this haven a reality. More

During our 2 night stay we were able to experience this beautiful island and everything it has to offer from the amazing mangroves, to the playful monkeys. I can not put into words amazing our experience with Francine and the monkeys was. Not only did we get to hang out and take pictures with the monkeys, we got to enjoy the natural beauty the resort has to offer. We spent a lot of time in the multiple hammocks that are set up throughout the resort as well as snorkeling around the mangroves. Hanging out and watching the monkeys was hands down one of the unbelievable things we have done. They have so much character and are so fascinating to watch and engage with. However the runner up best part of our stay here was the delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked and served by Francine and her amazing staff. Francine's cooking is as beautiful in flavor as it is in presentation. We were blown away after every meal. If she is offering lobster you must say yes or else you will be passing up a dining experience you will never forget. Also if you like Bloody Marys ask Francine to make one for you and you wont regret... Staying at Urraca is definitely one of the best decisions my boyfriend and I made on our trip to Bocas.
